Date

A major remediation project in Sandy Lake First Nation has been recognized by the Environment Journal as one of Canada’s top remediation projects!

Funded through Indigenous Services Canada, the project focuses on addressing petroleum hydrocarbon contamination using a combination of in-situ and ex-situ remediation approaches.

OFNTSC was pleased to be able to support the project alongside key partners, including Keewatin-Aski Ltd, Milestone Environmental Contracting, and Dillon Consulting.

Project highlights include large-scale soil and groundwater remediation, excavation and treatment of impacted materials, construction of a Soil Management Facility, shoreline and riverbed work along the Severn River, and comprehensive site restoration.

This recognition underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing environmental protection and supporting the health and sustainability of First Nations communities.
