Housing Training For First Nations

The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation’s (OFNTSC) Housing Service is pleased to announce that the Housing Service will be delivering three training opportunities over the next few months. Training opportunities will be in residential plumbing inspection, building officials and the law, and part nine: the house – building envelope. Below you will find a description of the training, along with pre-requisites to attend the course.

Expression of Interest for 13/14 funding through CMHC's On-Reserve Non Profit Housing Program Section 95

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) have announced its Expressions of Interest Application Package for 2013/14, funding through CMHC’s On-Reserve Non-Profit Housing Program (Section 95).  

The deadline to submit this package to CMHC is April 18, 2013 at 12:00am.

R-2000 Standard has been updated

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is pleased to announce the release of the updated 2012 R-2000 Standard, which increases the energy efficiency requirement for R-2000 homes by an impressive 50%. The publication of this Standard once again positions R-2000 as a leading-edge national voluntary standard for energy efficiency in Canada.

Part 9 Training: The House Building Envelope

The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) will be delivering two training sessions for Part 9: The House Building Envelope. The two training sessions will be held:

Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) Installation Training

The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) will be providing Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) Training in First Nations across Ontario in the coming weeks. The training sessions will take place over four days and will include in-class and on-site instruction training in a First Nation.

Holmes on Homes: Ontario First Nation Selection Criteria

Assembly of First Nations National Chief, Shawn A-in-chut Atleo and Mike Holmes of the Holmes Group, are pleased to announce the selection criteria and the application process for their joint pilot project. The pilot project will see a First Nation in Ontario region selected to design, plan and implement building activities that are based on green and sustainable practices. 

First Nations Housing Conference

The First Nations Housing Conference (FNHC) is the only conference in Canada dedicated to First Nations housing professionals and the advancement of their Communities. The conference allows delegates to gather insights, train and learn from unique workshops, and build capacity. The conference will take place from February 6-8, 2018 at Valhalla Inn in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The OFNTSC is posting the Lets Talk Housing - What We Heard: National Housing Strategy Report. The Report was produced to assess Canadian housing needs.  The Report is attached below.  

 

Housing Training Dates

The Housing Service of the OFNTSC is pleased to announce three training dates for Ontario First Nations housing staff.  The regional sessions will cover the building envelope, health and safety, buildings structural requirements and the house. For a full description of the training, please see the training abstracts below. For those interested in registering please fill out the attached form at the bottom of this page.
