Technical Youth Career Outreach Project Launch

The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation would like to announce the launch of the Technical Youth Career Outreach Project (TYCOP).  The TYCOP features First Nation professionals who have attained post-secondary education, and currently work in fields of science and technology.

To assist First Nations youth in choices for careers in science and technology, TYCOP has produced a 30 page Career Guide, Role Model Poster Series, and a pamphlet. In addition to the print material, TYCOP also attends career fairs, pow wows and community events.  TYCOP has also produced a new website which incorporates print material, with social media. Students can go online and takes quizzes to assess what career may be best for them. The TYCOP website is www.firstnationcareers.com.

The website features careers in Engineering, Housing, Environment, Fire/Safety, Water and Wastewater, Fuel/Energy, Operations and Maintenance, Infrastructure, Communications/Public Relations and Mining/Trades.  All of the Role Models featured in TYCOP are from Ontario First Nations.
