Landfill Operations and Maintenance and Solid Waste Diversion Workshop

The OFNTSC is announcing two workshops at Days Inn-Orillia, for Landfills Operations and Maintenance Training (two day workshop) plus a Solid Waste Diversion Workshop (one day) taking place from December 13-15, 2016.  Both workshops will start at 8:30am and will finish at 4:30pm.

Mark McNaughton joins the OFNTSC's O&M Service

The OFNTSC is pleased to announce the hiring of Mark McNaughton as a Data Analyst under the Operations and Maintenance Service (O&M). The O&M Service of the OFNTSC provides First Nations and Tribal Councils with analysis of there operations of community assets (water, buildings, roads, etc.). The service also works closely with the OFNTSC's Infrastructure, Housing, Environment and Climate Change services to provide First Nation communities with efficient means of operating and maintaining community assets.  

Tribal Council, Large and Unaffiliated First Nations Meeting

The OFNTSC will be holding its Tribal Council, Large and Unaffiliated First Nations meeting from September 14-15, 2016 at Casino Rama.  Over the course of the two days attendees will see presentations from Government partners, and OFNTSC staff on service updates. An agenda on the topics to be presented will be made available to attendees shortly. 

The OFNTSC will be sponsoring individuals to attend the meeting in September. Sponsorship from the OFNTSC will cover accommodations and travel for the meeting. Here is who is sponsored:

First Nations Water Symposium Registration Now Open! Oct 17-19, 2016

The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) is pleased to announce that in partnership with Health Canada, the OFNTSC will be delivering a First Nations Water Symposium on October 17-19, 2016 at the Marriott Gateway on the Falls, Niagara Falls, ON.  Delegates will be staying at the Marriott on the Falls across the street. 

Over the course of two days delegates who attend the First Nations Water Symposium will be engaged with sessions on capital, jurisdiction, and liability in regards to community drinking water and source water. 

Housing Training For First Nations

The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation’s (OFNTSC) Housing Service is pleased to announce that the Housing Service will be delivering three training opportunities over the next few months. Training opportunities will be in residential plumbing inspection, building officials and the law, and part nine: the house – building envelope. Below you will find a description of the training, along with pre-requisites to attend the course.

The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) is announcing that the 2016 Student Achievement and the Derrick Kamanga Memorial Awards applications are now available for download.  This year’s deadline to have your application in is June 24, 2016 at 4:30pm EST.

The OFNTSC encourages you to nominate a deserving First Nations student today! Anyone can nominate a student - family, friends, teachers or school councilors. Each year the OFNTSC awards four Student Achievement Awards for a $1000/award and one Derrick Kamanga Memorial Award for $2000.

The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) recently completed its 20thAnnual Conference and Tradeshow in Toronto, ON.
