2012 Bulk Fire Equipment Spreadsheet

UPDATE: A revised 2012 bulk fire equipment spreadsheet has been uploaded to this news item. The revised spreadsheet has been updated with additional fire items. Those fire departments that have already submitted the spreadsheet back to the OFNTSC, do not have to resend the spreadsheet again.

Ontario First Nations Emergency Preparedness and Response Workshop

The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) in partnership with the Ontario Native Fire Fighters Society (ONFFS) will be providing a workshop on Emergency Preparedness and Response. The two and a half day course will train an individual on emergency management and emergency response.

Provincial Recognition Award-Bkejwanong Territory Member Tatiana Day

Quick thinking and knowing what to do in emergency, can contribute greatly to saving lives. Such as is the case of Tatiana Day. The OFNTSC would like to recognize the actions of Tatiana Day, whose quick thinking and actions saved the lives of her family members.

Fire Protection Operation & Maintenance Funding Information

Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) provides First Nations in Ontario with Operation & Maintenance (O&M) subsities for departmentally funded capital assets on reserves. This is based on a departmental published document the “Cost Reference Manual” (CRM) . The CRM continues to be the bases for INAC in allocating O&M funds to First Nations communities. 18th Annual Native Firefighters Competition

The Fire and Safety program would like to acknowledge the winners of the 18th Annual Native Firefighters Competition.  The competition was held this year in Garden River First Nation.

This years winner is, Moose Cree First Nation Fire Department. A congratulations goes out to Fire Chief Chris Alisappi, Michael Delaney, Phil Sutherland Jr., Drake Tomatuk, Eldon Cheechoo and Damian Tomatuk.

Be sure to catch the Moose Cree Fire Department at the National Fire Fighters Competition in Edmonton, Alberta on August 20-22, 2008.


The OFNTSC client base consists of all 134 Ontario First Nations, including 16 Tribal Councils, six Large Nations and 18 Unaffiliated First Nations.
