Update (01/09/2012): The OFNTSC Landfill Operations & Maintenance Course originally scheduled for Jan. 24-25, 2012 in Sudbury has been moved to Rama First Nation (dates remain the same).
The meeting will be held at the "MASK" Mnjikaning Arena Sports Key located at 6147 Rama Road in the upstairs Community Room.
The OFNTSC is pleased to announce we will be facilitating a two day course on First Nations Landfill Operations and Maintenance at Rama First Nation.
The Landfill Operations and Maintenance Course is intended for First Nations public works managers, landfill supervisors, solid waste managers. 25 spaces are only available for this course. The Landfill Operations and Maintenance Course will cover the following topics over the two day course:
• How a natural attenuation landfill works
• Contamination pathways and risk assessment
• Landfill siting best practices
• Landfill design features
• Managing the fill area
• Monitoring and reporting
• Operations and maintenance
• Setting goals for your landfill
• Landfill site evaluation
• Waste diversion opportunities
The course will also include a tour of a local landfill. Participants will also receive a Landfill Operations and Maintenance Manual which can be customized to take back and use in your community.
Registration is free for confirmed participants and the OFNTSC will be directly covering hotel accommodations and lunches during the workshop. Other expenses such as travel, breakfast, dinner, and incidentals will be reimbursed to First Nations/ Tribal Councils at OFNTSC rates.
