Ontario Government Introduces Green Energy Act

On February 23, the Ontario Government tabled for First Reading its omnibus Bill 150, the Green Energy and Green Economy Act, 2009, which is intended to both ease the birth pangs of renewable energy projects and promote energy conservation among Ontarians.

Petroleum Mechanic Helper Update Workshop

OFNTSC is hosting a workshop in Sudbury on Jan 13 to 16th, for licensed Petroleum Mechanics (PM), Petroleum Mechanic Helpers (PMH) or fuel handlers. The workshop will cover sessions on the new Regulations for Storage Tank Systems, Emergency Planning, the Liquid Fuel Handling Code (LFHC), a Review of the Oil Code Book and an overview of the Oil Burner Activation Technician training certificate (no certificate will be issued).

OFNTSC hosts a Liquid Fuel Handling Code Workshop

OFNTSC hosted a Liquid Fuel Handling Code Update Workshop for Petroleum Mechanics and Petroleum Mechanic Helpers. The workshop was well attended and had participants from Shibogama Technical Services, Windigo First Nations Council, Pwi-Di-Goo-Zing, Anishinabek of Kabaspikotawangag Resource Council and Keewaywin, Pays Plat, Big Grassy, Stanjikoming, Pikangikum, Mishkeegogamang, Rainy River, North Caribou and Wapekeka First Nations. A total of 15 to 17 participants attended both days of the workshop.

Windpower Site Release and Development Review - Crown Land
The revised Policy and Procedure documents are now available on MNR’s Renewable Energy Extranet site along with maps, required forms, documents etc.

The windpower window for new submissions will be open February 20, 2008 and close on December 10, 2008.
It is important to note that all windpower applications must be submitted to the MNR Renewable Energy Section in Peterborough via a courier with tracking capabilities so that arrival time can be verified.
