Communications Program

Program Overview

Accountability through effective communications is fundamental to the future success of OFNTSC. The Communications Program has become a vital component of the corporate mandate for the delivery of services and information to stakeholders.

Through sound strategic planning the Communications Program ensures that the OFNTSC corporate message is delivered to stakeholders, governments, the corporate sector and the public. It is important that a network of relationships be maintained within governments in Ottawa, Queen’s Park and the media. In addition, OFNTSC collaborates with the corporate sector in exploring potential avenues for strategic initiatives and partnerships through its website, publications and personal meetings.

The OFNTSC brand is marketed through the distribution of background materials, information and media kits, brochures, newsletters and the website.

The Communications Program prepares, designs and writes a monthly electronic newsletter, Update, a quarterly newsletter, New Directions, an Annual Report, bulletins and backgrounders, briefing notes, brochures, website materials, media kits, project proposals, press releases and letters as required.

Special bulletins, to raise awareness of specific issues, are created as needed and distributed electronically as well as by mail and fax.

The Communications Program also arranges for the dissemination of relevant information through press conferences and media releases, information kits and publications. It maintains an on-going relationship with First Nation and other media outlets across Ontario.

The website houses program information and services, a discussion board and an archive of all communications material, program descriptions, employment opportunities, workshops, upcoming events, a database and templates for downloading.

Communications constantly liaises with governments, the corporate sector and foundations seeking new opportunities for partnerships and the funding of essential programs.
